Quorn 1-1 Shepshed Dynamo

Farley Way Stadium is home of Quorn. This was a trip I have been meaning to do for a while and what’s better than a local game between Quorn and Shepshed Dynamo, only 20 minutes away from each other. My journey started at my local bus stop at 1pm and eventually getting there at 2:30pm after a change in Whitwick, a near by village. Admission is £6 for adults and £4 for Concessions then programmes are £1.50. The ground has a seated stand running the length of the pitch and a sheltered terrace behind tone of the goals. The Clubhouse is on situated on the side opposite the seated stand, where they serve hot and cold drinks and food.

Quorn’s official website says “Quorn moved to its present ground on Farley Way in 1994 with the establishment of a new modern Clubhouse large enough to cater for the demands of a progressive Football Club both on and off the field, a football pitch with a playing surface that is second to none, and a large Astroturf training area.

Driven by the Club’s ambition to have a ground satisfying the facility criteria of Leagues at a higher level in the Football Pyramid, the following 14 years has seen remarkable progress, with the development of a 350 Seat Grandstand, built with the potential of increasing it’s future capacity to 500, large spectator car parking facilities, outside spectator toilets, and the establishment of a large grass training pitch to compliment the Astroturf.

The sale of Luke Varney from Crewe Alexandra to Charlton Athletic brought a hefty windfall for the club following the Chairman‘s Stuart Turners astute sell on clause that was part of the deal that took the striker to Crewe five years ago and the committee have invested the money wisely developing the ground even further with the construction of a new stand at the Farley Way end and a new extension to the clubhouse bringing the ground up to near Conference level.”

The game saw Quorn 1-0 in the first half after a Tom Byrne goal and a late second half equaliser by Shepshed’s Adam Goodby infront of 210 people.

After getting an earlier bus from Quorn at 4:55pm and changing in Whitwick again, I got back at 6:30pm.

Overall my short journey to Quorn was an enjoyable trip without problems.
